Submissions

We allow up to 10 photo submission per person for each submission cycle. We would appreciate it if you’d subscribe to the magazine before submitting. To be featured in our magazine, send your work to ruralanthology@gmail.com using the following outline.

Subject Line: [First & Last Name] - Submission

Body: Provide a brief artist bio, followed by the titles of each piece you wish to be considered for publication. Additionally, you may choose to provide your Instagram handle as means of publicity.

Attach each work in the order you listed them. We will accept any file type as long as it can be viewed. If we are unable to view your attachment, you will receive a follow up email asking for a re-submission utilizing a different file type.

If we choose to accept your art for publication, you will likely hear back from our editors within 1-2 months of sending your initial email.

NOTE: Submissions to Rural Anthology are free and open year round. All issues are published digitally and featured on our website. Some issues will additionally receive paper publication.

Rules and Guidelines

  • Submitted works must be original to the entrant. All photos and videos sent to the magazine need to have been taken or created by the individual submitting them.

  • Submissions must not infringe on the moral, intellectual, or privacy rights of any other person or entity.

  • There are no technical requirements for submitted artworks, however, we do ask that you ensure that the files being sent in are visible to email recipients and do not exceed 10 MB.

  • Visual art may not portray offensive or derogatory material. Additionally, themes that align with concepts such racism or sexism should not be present in your works. Hostility to any degree is prohibited.

AI Usage Policy

The use of artificial intelligence is permitted to an extent. AI may be utilized solely for minor enhancements or adjustments and may not be the principal creator for any given work. All primary creative elements must be generated by humans. Examples of acceptable AI usage include slight touch-ups, color corrections, and background noise reduction. Please ensure that all contributions align with this policy to maintain the integrity of our publication.
